frequently asked questions
What should I expect for my first visit?
The first visit is a 60-minute in-depth discussion of your chief concerns, health goals, family history, and nutrition and lifestyle habits. I will also perform a targeted physical exam, which may include blood pressure; resting pulse rate; and hair, skin, nails, and tongue examination.
Based on these findings, I will advise a nutritional plan, modification of any supplements, recommend specific lab tests (either private or from your family physician), as well as map out a plan of where we need to go to achieve your goals.
what is the second visit like?
During the second visit, we will have an in-depth review of your lab test results and make modifications or new recommendations to the nutrition and supplement plan as needed.
are my visits covered by insurance?
Most private health insurance policies cover Naturopathic medicine services, between $500-$1000 per year. Natural health products and private lab tests are not covered because they are not drugs. If you have a health spending account, supplements and lab tests can also be covered in addition to the visits.
How many visits will I need?
This will vary depending on the person and the situation. My primary goal is to help you overcome your chief concerns and develop your roadmap toward optimal health. This education process often takes 4-5 visits varying anywhere from 15 mins to 1 hour. Other times, a person's health may be more complex and their healing requires more time. Many of my patients return twice a year for a "tune-up" to address any new concerns or life circumstances.
